DESCRIPTION

• This 181-hectare property in the cloud forest of Costa Rica is a vital ecological refuge. Being located on the Continental Divide, it acts as a crucial biological corridor for biodiversity, protects essential watersheds, and preserves high-altitude ecosystems that harbor endangered species.
  Its ecological importance is highlighted in the following pillars:
  • Biological and Altitudinal Corridor: With altitudes between 1,500 and 2,000 meters, it allows the altitudinal migration of birds and mammals, protecting them against the effects of climate change by offering them shelters in different thermal zones.
  • Bird Sanctuary: It serves as a vital habitat for vulnerable or rare species, including the Quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno), the Elegant Eagle (Spizaetus ornatus), and the Blue-crowned Chlorophonia (Cyanolyca cucullata).
  • Watershed and Water Protection: The mountainous topography and the rivers present in the 400 hectares ensure moisture capture, water regulation, and the protection of the aquifers that feed the Central Valley basins.
